Filling a downtown void with value

February 16, 2022

There are many ways Caster Concepts is supporting the City’s growth. One important way to continue this success is to stick to the plan. The Big Albion Plan that is. Two recent articles highlighting some of the latest accomplishments happening around Albion include the new Superior Street Mercantile Store and the latest redevelopment projects that are bringing new life to Albion.

Taking up two storefronts of a building that dates back to 1884, Superior Street Mercantile fills the largest void in downtown Albion. The grocer is also the latest part of the “Big Albion Plan” to come to life. Led by the Albion Reinvestment Corp. (ARC), the plan maps out the revitalization of residential and commercial properties in the downtown commercial district. Superior Street Mercantile features more than 120 Michigan-based brands and employs eight associates, all of whom live within the city limits.

With all the changes over the last two years, redevelopment projects have held steady during the pandemic. The most recent major changes downtown have been led by ACE Real Estate Services LLC founder Joe Verbeke, a real estate broker who has been renovating several Albion rental properties as well as overseeing the redevelopment of vacant commercial properties through his real estate company’s affiliate, ACE Investment Properties LLC. Verbeke helped lead the redevelopment of the Peabody Lofts and Brick Street Lofts downtown along with Caster Concepts Inc. CEO Bill Dobbins.
